This is the story of 17-year-old Anne Shirley that revolves around her life-- her dreams, poetic and romantic ideas and ideals-- her transition as a woman and a school teacher, with high ideals and principles, and a fertile imagination. Avonlea is a picturesque village, which comes alive with interesting characters--Anne, Marilla, Diana, Jane, Gilbert Blythe, Mrs. Lynde, Mr. Harrison, the Copp sisters, Stephen Irving, Miss Lavendar, among others. Anne and her friends take on the task, as the 'Improvers' to beautify Avonlea through donations from the inhabitants, while persuading them to beautify their farm entrances. Anne lives with Marilla and together they raise Davy and Dora, after their mother's desk. Will Anne uphold her principles of never caning a child at school? Will Stephen Irving marry his love, Miss Lavendar?
